TobiCall Safety
1. What TobiCall is and is not
TobiCall is an app in which an AI character calls a child at a time the guardian booked, to help with everyday routines such as brushing teeth, bedtime and tidying up. The characters are generative AI, not people, and their voices are synthesised by AI.
TobiCall is not therapy or counselling, and it is not an emergency service. No person listens to calls live, and the service cannot call emergency numbers.
2. How each call says it is AI
Every call says the product name and the word "AI" together in its first sentence, for the youngest children too. If a child asks during the call whether the character is real, the character honestly says again that it is an AI. The incoming-call screen on the guardian's phone and every report also say that this is an AI character call and an AI summary.
Children aged 3 or younger may not yet understand the word "AI", so at that age calls come only to the guardian's phone and the guardian listens alongside. After the call, it helps to tell your child that a computer made the character's voice.
3. If a child is scared or wants to stop
How firm a character sounds is decided only within the intensity the guardian sets. By default no character threatens a child. Scare calls run only after a separate per-child opt-in, on the guardian's phone with the guardian present; conditional threats start at age 4 (younger children get a scary entrance only), and any character's first call with a child stays at intensity 1 or lower. Near bedtime the limit is lower still. The character retreats the moment the child promises.
If a child says they are scared or starts crying, the character stops what it was saying and the same character immediately switches to a friendly tone. If a child asks to hang up, the character says in one sentence that it will, and ends the call. The guardian gets an alert, and that child's intensity stays low for 7 days. Reports for these calls never suggest a time to try again; they ask the guardian to take a break from calls today and stay close to the child.
4. If a child talks about danger
If a child says they are hurt, in danger or want to disappear, the character stops the mission at once. It does not ask who, why or where; it briefly says it heard them and that it is not their fault, then asks the child to tell a trusted grown-up right now. The character never promises to stay on the line, that help is coming or that a parent is on the way.
If there is fire, bleeding or trouble breathing and no grown-up nearby, only children aged 6 or older hear a pre-approved sentence asking them to use another phone to call the emergency number of their country (Republic of Korea, Japan 119 / United States 911). The AI never makes up a number.
In these cases the call may be extended once by 1 minute, and no call lasts longer than 4 minutes. The extra time is not taken from the plan's call time. The guardian gets the highest-level alert, that child's scary-character bookings pause for 30 days and the intensity stays low. The guardian can turn them back on from the report.
If a child says that an adult hurts or frightens them, the account is not notified automatically, because the person the child means could be the account holder. This is recorded only as a category and handling status in a safety review record, which operations staff with access review during business hours. If no guardian can safely be told, no account is notified. If this happens twice or more for the same child within 7 days, operations staff review the account separately.
We do not report automatically to the police or child-protection agencies: we do not store calls, so we cannot judge whether what a child said is true. Please also know that this is not a service where a person is always watching.
5. Alerts guardians receive
Guardians receive a report after each call, and an alert at the matching level if the child was scared or there was a crisis signal. Alerts for "scared" and "crisis" cannot be turned off.
An alert reaching the guardian's device is not the same as the guardian reading it. We record an alert as acknowledged only when the guardian taps to confirm it in the app, and until then the report shows that it is waiting for confirmation. The character never tells a child that the guardian has been told before the guardian confirms.
6. Data
We do not record calls and do not store the child's voice. Reports are kept for 30 days and never quote the child.
During a call, the child's voice is passed on in real time only to run the call. The companies that process data for us are listed in the Privacy Policy (tobicall.com/

8. Not for institutions
TobiCall is for families at home. Guardians may book calls only for children they raise, and daycares, kindergartens, academies, schools and other institutions may not use it. An account can have up to 4 children, and there are no teacher or class features and no way to call many children at once. Reports can be seen only by the guardian's account and cannot be shared by link.
